I feel like I have had the busiest week ever! and it’s not slowing down. I’ve got lots of plans for the weekend (mostly involving food (if you haven’t met me before that’s really nothing new) and then a packed start to next week as well. There were so many wonderful things from this past week, so let’s get right into my Friday Favorites shall we?
Favorite Song: Blue Moon by Beck
After the whole Grammy thing with Kanye West this week I figured I would give this album a listen. This song has stuck out to me the most. It has a 90’s vibe to it, but I really like the whole album. Give it a listen on Spotify, it’s great for background music while working.
Favorite Cookbook: Family Food by Pete Evans
We are starting another Whole30 this weekend – eek! Ben and I picked up Pete Evan’s new paleo cookbook from Kmart last weekend and it’s fantastic. We aren’t ones to unnecessarily spend on cookbooks but the more we looked through it the more we knew we needed to have it! The recipes are yummy, family friendly (three recipes for pizzas, chicken nuggets, hot dogs, etc. for kids), and the photos are gorgeous!! I’ve already tabbed pages for Whole30 compliant recipes so we’ll rock our next challenge.
I wasn’t able to find this one at Barnes and Noble or Amazon (if you’re an American reader), but his other cookbooks are there. I’d assume they are good, but I can vouch for this one.
Favorite News: I’m a certified Bartender now!
Yep, a job I never thought I would do, or want to do, but after three days of 6hr trainings this week I am now certified and trained to be a bartender in Australia. I had so much fun during my course and I am looking forward to going job searching next week.
Favorite Funny: Mom Advice for their Single Kid on Valentines Day
The mom who says come over, I’ll make you pasta, and we’ll watch Magic Mike since your dad will be asleep anyway sounds like my mom…. but maybe a different movie. Then again, maybe she would watch it.
Favorite New/Old Purchase: Bicycles
After our incident on Friday we found out Ben’s car wouldn’t be fixed until Tuesday so we were without a vehicle for a while, which was the perfect opportunity for us to buy bicycles.
The local university has a bicycle program that allows you to basically reverse pawn bikes. You give them cash, they give you a bike. When you are done with the bike (like when a university student graduates, or child out grows their bike) you just bring the bike back to them and your money is returned. No interest, no fees, full payment given back.
Thanks to Ben my bike has the coolest basket on it now. It pops right off so I can take the basket shopping with me, and then pops back on when I’m ready to ride home.
Favorite Valentines Idea: Breakfast in Bed
I have waited until the last minute to make my valentines plans, but I have officially decided on breakfast in bed following a similar menu to this. I’m hoping Ben will love it and have a stress free morning before his plans for the day take over.
What are your plans for the weekend?
Have you listened to Beck before?
