Last weekend was the calm before the storm… before we get into my actual Friday Favorites can I just say my favorite person this week is Ben for doing all the driving we are about to do. Monday is Australia Day and we’ve been planning on visiting our friends in Sydney since… last Australia Day. But before we head to Sydney (only 2hrs from Newcastle) we are driving five hours to the farm for an engagement party Saturday night, and another six to Sydney on Sunday morning at about 5am. We are super excited to visit our friends and family even if it’s just for quick visits, apologize in advance if we are out of it and/or exhausted.
Now, onto the good stuff..
Favorite Fruit: Bananas
Some people (here’s lookin at you mom) cannot stand bananas… while I much prefer the green ones to full on yellow, Ben and I bought 19 bananas from the grocery store – and ate them all!
Favorite Moments: A Bit of Peace and Quiet
I almost wrote a blog post about this… but then I realized it would read much like, “Ben and I sat on the couch all week. The End.” This week we enjoyed the peace and quiet of being without housemates for four days. Can you believe in our entire relationship we have never lived in the same house alone. Sure we take vacations alone, and Ben visited me in America when I lived alone, but we have never been alone in our house for more than 16 hours…. until now.
We ordered in pizza, cooked dinners together, watched lots of movies, and cleaned (and I mean powered cleaned) our entire house before our housemates got back today. It was a beautiful glimpse into the future.
Favorite Storage Solution: Open Shelves
I was scrolling through my bloglovin’ feed this week and saw this storage idea for open shelf units. We just rearranged our kitchen – and moved the fridge into our laundry room (another story for another time) and got a shelf unit for more space. I love the way this is organized and the tips Jordan shares for organizing and decorating.
Favorite Video: SOTU Memes
I wasn’t able to watch the SOTU address #AustraliaProblems, but I did watch this video of SOTU Memes and laughed my behind off! The mean mug on Biden is priceless!
Did I really just use a hashtag in a blog post? I’m clearly exhausted and the weekend hasn’t even begun!
That’s all for now folks. Be sure to check out The Grits Blog this weekend, I am hanging out over there tomorrow with a post on how to make your food photos stand out on instagram.
What are your plans this weekend?
How do you feel about Obama’s comments during the SOTU? Funny or inappropriate?
