Happy Friday and Happy Halloween!
I won’t really spend much time on Halloween in my Friday Favorites because in Australia it’s not really a thing – more on that later. Let’s get right into things shall we?
Favorite Song: LA.LOVE by Fergie
I have never been a Fergie fan, but the vibe of this one just makes me want to dance every time it comes on, which makes me feel very fortunate I don’t work in an office at the moment because my coworkers would totally see me jamming – I have desk dance moves – don’t judge!
Favorite Fright: Nightmares Fear Factory
There is a Haunted House in Niagara Falls Canada that takes photos at the most terrifying part of the house, and the results are hilarious! I would never be brave enough to do what these people are doing, or pay to be scared, so mad props to them, but these photos are genuinely hilarious!! I don’t know what they are looking at, I don’t want to know, but I can’t stop laughing!

Favorite TV Show: Recipes to Riches
I love food competition shows MasterChef, Hells Kitchen, My Kitchen Rules (aussie), and business shows like Shark Tank and Restaurant Start Up – my new favorite show, Recipes to Riches, combines both of those things into one. Each week is a different theme (baked good, bbq, chocolate, etc.) and three contestants with a recipe for that category compete to get their product featured our national supermarket chain Woolworths for one week. At the end of the season one of the products is picked as the ultimate winner and becomes a staple item in the store.
This week’s winner made a gluten free pork and apple sausage, it sounds delicious, and I after not eating a sausage for the past few months I am looking forward to trying one this weekend! Unfortunately, the show only airs in Australia, sorry mom.
Favorite Jaw Dropper: Daniel Radcliff Raps the ABC’s
I started watching this with Ben sitting next to me, headphones in. He was busy doing something but it didn’t matter; not even halfway through the video I stopped it, took out Ben’s headphones, and made him watch this. He wasn’t happy – who would be – but then his jaw dropped to. This is awesome!!
Favorite Holiday Inspiration: Pinterest
While we were on the farm this weekend I kept day dreaming about Thanksgiving.. middle of Australia and here I am thinking about my favorite holiday, strange right? So I’ve decided that I am going to plan a Thanksgiving dinner for Ben and our friends here in Australia the Saturday after the big day. Being the only American in the group I have a huge task ahead to do all the food and décor to give these Aussies their first true American Thanksgiving. I am working on invites this week, and planning the menu – including my mom’s Pecan Pie and Pumpkin Pie because I want them to enjoy foods that they wouldn’t normally Down Under. I’ve got some great ideas for decorating (some below) pinned here too!
Favorite Photos: Farming Photos
Ben and I went to his parents house last weekend and I learned all about harvesting wheat and prepping sheep to be sold. I have gotten a lot of comments on the photos I took, and I must say I impressed myself – by the way the first and second photos were taken with a cell phone.
That’s all folks. I’m off to write my bimonthly email, if you haven’t subscribed you can do so here, they are always a bit more personal than the posts – and may or may not be written with a
bottle glass of wine in hand. Oh and I am discussing Australian Halloween in this email – or lack there of, it’ll be a nice bit of history.
What are your favorites this week? Any weekend plans? Let me know in the comments.
