Ever have a week of big plans and it all goes to… well it goes somewhere you didn’t expect it to go? That’s my week, big plans that went nowhere, and here we are Friday morning (or Thursday night for all you Americans) and I am posting my Friday Favorites. Where were the rest of the posts from the week? Where was that October Wish List I promised you last week? Good question. Blame it on having a long weekend with Monday off, blame it on the Ben coming home from work mid-day Tuesday and bumping me from my desk space so he could work from home (I love him, I really do), and then he got the flu and I became nurse Andrea taking him to the doctor (I can’t drive in Australia so he took me – I kept him awake), making him homemade soup, and sitting with him all day long tending to his every need the past three days – because that’s what good girlfriends do, and have I mentioned I love him? It’s all just preparing me for babies I sure of it.
Long intro aside, and sincerest apologies for not getting my stuff together this week, while Ben is still sleeping and doesn’t need anything from me I am knockin out my Friday Favorites.
Favorite Cocktail: Raspberry Peach Prosecco
By now you may have read about the diet Ben and I started a few weeks ago, and as of today we only have 4 days to go!! I want to do something nice for us on day 31 (within reason of course) and a yummy cocktail might be a good way to go. I’m loving this Raspberry Peach Prosecco Punch from Julie at Table for Two.
Favorite Kangaroo Moment: Boxing Kangaroos
You know I love a good kangaroo, and if you don’t then check out this post, or this post. When this came on the news the other day I knew I had to share it with you! You can watch the whole thing of fast forward a bit, it’s a pretty long video (my favorite part is between the 2 and 3 minute mark).
I knew kangaroos boxed, but I didn’t realize they stood on their tails and kicked with both feet! These guys are just as cool as I always thought they were.
Favorite Find: Linen & Cotton Bowl Covers
Prior to moving to Australia I had never used a linen to keep my food warm before serving (nor heated my plates in a microwave before putting hot food on it) but from what I can tell it’s a pretty normal thing here to throw a tea towel over your food to keep it warm while finishing up something else on the stove. My biggest concern doing that has always been that the towel could be dirty and then touch my food, so these linen bowl covers from Provisions by Food52 are the perfect option to keep food warm, protect my food, save leftovers, or let dough rise.
Favorite Funny: Who is Joe Biden?
This video had me cracking up, and tempted to ask my Aussie housemates who Joe Biden is to see if they can do better than the Americans.
Update: Ben knew who Joe Biden was, and was appalled that Americans didn’t know who he was. When asked who Dick Cheney was, Ben responded with, “um….. deputy vice secretary of state? Or something?” Looks like we still have some work to do.
Favorite Day Dream: Bali
Ben casually mentioned the other day he really wants to take me on a trip to Bali sometime next year…. I can’t stop thinking about it. I guess while we are living on this side of the world it makes sense to go!Source
By the way, his other thought was Thailand, so if you have ever visited either country I would love to hear your thoughts on them.
Thanks for putting up with me and my lack of posts this week, expect more next week, unless the world starts to crumble in, or I succumb to this virus. Speaking of, anyone have any special remedies they use to keep from getting sick? Or get better when they are? I’d love to hear!
