Confession, I googled “roman numeral for 14″… why don’t they teach roman numerals in school? When it comes to making lists the roman numeral is just so much prettier than if I put “Friday Favorites 14” right?
Anyway, getting down to business, here are some of my favorite things this week!
1.// Favorite OMG I’ve Still Got It Moment: Chicken Catching
In an attempt to do tons of fun things around Tampa before next week’s move to Australia, my mom and I paid a visit to Old McMickeys Farm in Odessa to reminisce of old memories and make some new ones. Old McMickeys was my favorite place to visit as a kid, and working as a tour guide on the farm was my first job when I was 15. We took tons of photos of our day on the farm, and I plan to blog about our visit soon, but in the meantime this was one of my favorite pictures I couldn’t help but to share! One of the faster chickens in the pen and I scooped him right up! Can I add “excellent chicken catcher” to my resume?
2.//Favorite DIY Gift: Recipe Cards
Now that the world has Pinterest how often are people writing recipes out of index cards? Probably not very often. I am always thinking of ways to create personal gifts for people, and a recipe on one of these cards would go perfectly with a jar of homemade brownie mix! These cards are a total winner for me!
3.// Favorite Kitchen Appliance: Cuisinart Food Processor
Typically my mom does the cooking for the family, but for the last few weeks I have taken over the cooking duties a couple times a week and tried to blow everyone away with some of my favorites (which doesn’t always happen – sorry dad.) I made my Grilled Cheese and Pesto Sandwich for lunch last week and used a food processor to chop everything up. I was so happy with the outcome and how much of a difference it made to go from chopping in a blender to chopping in a food processor. This is on my must get appliance list!
4.//Favorite Outdoor Space: A Beautiful Mess – Laura’s Outdoor Space
Laura’s outdoor space shown on the website A Beautiful Mess is an outstanding combination of fun entertaining space meets relaxing livable outdoors. I loved her garden gazebo feel and bold choice in color for the carpets and table chairs. I pinned this one for inspiration (fingers crossed for a backyard like this someday) and am sharing it because.. well, how could I not?
5.// Favorite Day Dream: Melbourne, Australia
Ben texted me Wednesday night and asked if I wanted to go to Melbourne with him in the end of August for four days. My answer: Duh! I’ve been so excited about going to Melbourne ever since then. He and I talk all the time about moving there, so to spend four days in the city and get to experience it will really help me to figure out if I see myself there in the future.
In the meantime I am daydreaming about places to see and things to do while we are down there. So far the list includes: Trying a restaurant or café on the Best Of List, watching the Docklands Winter Fireworks, going shopping in the Emporium and Queen Victoria Markets, and exploring St. Kilda and Elwood.
In non-Friday Favorite news, this weekend marks the start of Australia Week on the blog! I am so excited to share with you all my long lost posts and stories leading up to my move back to the Land Down Under! Here are a few fun snapshots you will see over the next week!
